The best exfoliating scrub soap deep cleans your skin and removes unwanted dead skin cells and build up. It exfoliates without irritation and smooths out your skin, leaving a clean and smooth surface ready to accept serums and moisturizers.
With ingredients that promote healthy skin, the best scrub is made with oils that moisturize and hydrate after exfoliation. Look for natural ingredients such as silky avocado oil, olive oil, coconut oil, and shea butter.
Quality ingredients like these won’t harm your skin and will leave your hands, feet, face, and body soft as a baby’s bum.
Hands, feet, and face are target areas for an exfoliating scrub, and these areas should be treated with ingredients like bentonite clay, which helps create a barrier for your skin against irritants. With its seemingly magical absorbing properties, it’s great for oily skin.
The best exfoliating scrub soap should also aid in your hand, foot, face, and body care regimen by allowing products applied after washing to actually hang around longer and penetrate deeper.
Because it makes your skin more water-resistant, the best exfoliating scrub soap allows other creams and lotions to better adhere to your skin.
The best scrub is never tested on animals, only includes the best natural ingredients, and never any sulfates, dioxanes, or anything that harms your skin.
It should also only be made using ethical manufacturing and sourcing practices, and it should be offered in recyclable packaging to respect the environment.
In general, exfoliating scrub soap made in the USA is best.
This body scrub helped clear my skin blemishes, and did magic for the soles of my feet. Loooooovin it! - Claire F, Colorado
My skin feels wonderful after using True Grit.
I love how energizing the True Grit soap is, especially in the morning.
The name says it all, Super gritty! Great for my stubborn feet!
My boyfriend purchased this soap for himself but I will admit to using it! I have colored hair and need to use a special type of shampoo to upkeep the color. Unfortunately, the shampoo has a vibrant purple tone to it which can stain hands and skin when not using gloves. Thought I’d give this soap a try (because who wants to put on gloves during a shower) and it worked out better than expected! The gritty texture of the soap stripped off the extra color and got rid of any signs of stain! I will purchase for myself once we use it up.
Exfoliation is known to be among the best ways to prepare your skin for topical skin treatments, such as serums and creams, which improve the tone and texture of your skin.
Plus, it can be done for little money at home, resulting in noticeable results. The idea is simple: exfoliation removes dead skin cells from the epidermis layer. Thus, healthier and brighter skin that lies below is revealed, making it easier for new skin cells to grow.
Simply follow the 10 step guide below to learn how.
1. What is Exfoliation?
Exfoliation is the simple process of removing dead skin cell build-up from the top layer of your skin. By removing these dead skin cells, the healthy and vibrant skin below can now be revealed.
2. What type of exfoliation is best?
There are two types of exfoliation, chemical and physical.
Physical exfoliation occurs by way of a skincare device or tool, such as a grater, towel, brush, or sponge, which physically removes the dead skin cells by scraping, brushing, or rubbing.
Chemical exfoliation is when you use a liquid, gel, or scrub. These usually contain some sort of pumice, microbeads, or granules, such as sugar. Depending on your needs, we recommend starting with an all-natural, mild exfoliation chemical scrub. Then, you can move up the ladder to something more aggressive.
3. Why should I exfoliate my skin?
With a total area of about 20 square feet, your skin is your body’s largest organ. It protects you from microbes and chemicals, retains vital nutrients, and shields you from ultraviolet rays and harmful effects.
As you can imagine, your skin takes a lot of abuse, causing dead skin cell buildup. By removing the outermost layer of dead skin cells, your skin becomes smoother, and your pores get cleaned out. This leaves your skin better prepared to absorb serums and creams, improving your complexion.
4. How to apply exfoliating scrub soap on your face
When using an all-natural exfoliating scrub soap, you can now happily skip the first step of cleansing your skin. This is because this exfoliating scrub soap does double duty. It cleans your skin while the scrub exfoliates.
First, wet your face with warm water, lather up the bar in your hands, and apply it to your face. Be careful not to get it into your eyes!
Once applied to your face, use gentle circular motions to work the soap into your pores and clean your skin. Do this for 45-60 seconds.
5. How to apply exfoliating scrub soap to your feet
The bottom of your feet certainly take the most abuse. They tend to dry out easily and become the roughest spot on your body.
For maximum results, it’s recommended to soak your feet in warm water for 10-15 minutes. If available, mix some Epsom salts in with the warm water. It will do wonders.
After you have soaked your feet, use the scrub soap bar to clean and exfoliate your feet. Washing away the impurities, dead skin cells, and grime. Do this for about 2-3 minutes.
For your daily routine, we recommend using an exfoliating soap bar, like True Grit, two to three times a week while you the shower.
Just a quick 30 second scrub on each foot. This prevents unwanted dead skin cell buildup, keeping your feet supple, smooth, and worthy of showing off.
6. How to apply exfoliating scrub to your body
Your skin is continually shedding and repairing itself, which is why exfoliating helps remove dead skin cells. The best way to exfoliate your body is by gently applying a chemical exfoliant.
A soap with pumice, scrub or granules is easiest and best applied directly or by lathering up a clean washcloth and gently applying it on your body.
7. How to remove exfoliating scrub
Once you’re done thoroughly washing and exfoliating your skin, rinse your feet, body, and/or face with warm water, and then pat dry with a clean towel.
8. Apply serums, creams, and moisturizers
With your skin still moist and warm from cleansing and exfoliating, it is perfectly prepared to accept serums, creams, and moisturizers, and now they can deeply penetrate the skin and be most effective.
Apply your favorite serum or cream for deep hydration and intense healing results.
9. How often should you exfoliate your face, hands, feet, and skin?
For your face, most experts recommended you only exfoliate once or twice per week. Exfoliating too often may strip your skin’s protective layer or, even worse, cause micro-tears to form and weaken your skin’s barrier.
For your feet, they require a bit more attention. It is recommended to treat your feet three to four times a week with a mild exfoliant, such as True Grit exfoliation scrub soap. If the skin on the bottom of your feet becomes tender, you may want to change up your routine.
For the rest of your body, most health experts agree that one to three times a week is plenty of exfoliation. If your skin is overly sensitive, you should think about exfoliating less.
10. Use quality natural products to exfoliate your skin
Keep in mind that the purpose of exfoliating is to remove dead skin cells. You should not have to scrub too hard or too often to make that happen. If you do, you are likely to remove healthy cells, which might leave your skin looking red and feeling sore.
This also holds true when using harsh chemicals. It’s important to always treat your skin with care by only using products that are natural, full of goodness, and made with 100% kindness and the best ingredients nature has to offer.
